Professor Mark Stevenson is an epidemiologist and Professor of Urban Transport and Public Health at The University of Melbourne. Prof. Nguyen Linh Toan, MD, MSc, Dr.rer.nat., is a physician-scientist and Professor of Medicine with more than 30 years of experience in medical education, biomedical research, and academic leadership. He earned his MD and Master of Medicine at Vietnam Military Medical University and a Dr.rer.nat. in Bio-Medicine at the University of Tübingen, Germany. For nearly two decades at VMMU he served as Head of Pathophysiology and Head of the Postgraduate Office. Nationally he has been Member, Vice Chair, and Chair of NAFOSTED scientific councils in biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences; he currently serves on NAFOSTED’s Applied Research Council in Medicine and Pharmacy (Ministry of Science and Technology) and on the National Ethics Committee for Biomedical Research, Ministry of Health. He has led or joined more than 25 ministry- and national-level projects, published over 275 papers including more than 110 international articles (H-index 30), and received the Ho Chi Minh Prize (2017).

Prof. Nguyen Thanh Liem, MD, PhD, has more than 50 years of experience in pediatric surgery and pioneered regenerative medicine and cell therapy for intractable diseases in Vietnam. He received advanced training in France, Sweden, Japan, Australia, and the United States, and is internationally regarded as a leading expert in pediatric endoscopic surgery, especially choledochal cyst (more than 500 cases) and congenital diaphragmatic hernia (more than 300 cases); he introduced nine original pediatric surgical techniques. He is President of the Vietnam Association of Pediatric Surgery (VAPS), Vice President of the Asian Association of Pediatric Surgeons (AAPS), Chair of the Research Committee of the International Pediatric Endosurgery Group (IPEG), and a member of Vietnam’s National Council for Science and Technology Policy (NCSTP). In 2018 he became the first Vietnamese scientist to receive the Nikkei Asia Prize in Science and Technology; in 2019 he was named among Asia’s top 100 scientists.

Labor Hero and People’s Doctor Prof. Bui Duc Phu, Vice President of the Vietnam Medical Association, is one of Vietnam’s foremost cardiac surgeons, with more than 40 years of experience. He was the lead surgeon and team leader for the first human heart transplant in Vietnam performed entirely by a Vietnamese team.
